Getting Started
Budget Tracker is a personal finance management app that helps you track your income, expenses, accounts, budgets, goals, loans, and subscriptions in one place. Sign in with Google or GitHub, add your financial accounts, and start tracking your money.
No credit card is required to sign up. The free plan is completely free forever. You only need to provide payment information if you upgrade to a paid plan.
Currently, Budget Tracker supports manual entry of transactions and accounts. Automatic bank imports via open banking APIs are on our roadmap and coming soon.
The app currently defaults to Indian Rupees (₹). Multi-currency support with automatic conversion is planned for a future release.
Security & Privacy
Yes. All data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL). We use OAuth 2.0 for authentication — we never store your passwords.
Only you. Your data is scoped to your account by a strict user-ID check on every query. No other user, and no Budget Tracker employee, can access your records.
No. We never sell, rent, or share your personal or financial data with any third party. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
Deleting your account permanently removes all your data — accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, loans, and subscriptions — from our servers within 30 days.
Billing & Plans
Absolutely. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time from your account settings. Changes take effect immediately, and we pro-rate any billing differences.
Yes — we offer a 14-day free trial of Pro. No credit card is required to start the trial. You'll be asked for payment details only if you choose to continue after the trial.
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) as well as UPI and net banking for Indian users.
Yes. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you're not satisfied for any reason, contact our support team for a full refund.
Features
An Expense is money leaving an account for a purchase or bill (linked to a category for budgeting). A Transaction is a transfer of money between two of your own accounts — for example, moving money from a savings account to a checking account.
Goals let you define a savings or investment target (e.g. 'Emergency Fund – ₹1,00,000'). You link transactions to a goal to track progress. The app shows your completion percentage and estimated time to reach the target.
Yes. In the Loans section you can record both Payable loans (money you owe others) and Receivable loans (money others owe you), along with interest rates and due dates.
Budgets are monthly spending limits set per category. The app automatically calculates how much you've spent in that category this calendar month and shows your remaining balance and progress bar.
Technical
Budget Tracker is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — you can install it on your device and access previously loaded pages while offline. Real-time data sync requires an internet connection.
Yes! On Android, open the app in Chrome and tap 'Add to Home Screen'. On iOS, open it in Safari and tap the Share icon → 'Add to Home Screen'. The app will launch full-screen like a native app.
Budget Tracker works on all modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Brave. We recommend keeping your browser up to date for the best experience.
Budget Tracker is a mobile-responsive PWA — it works great in any mobile browser without needing an app store download. A native iOS/Android app is on our long-term roadmap.
